Sophie Duriaux

Teacher

Born and raised in Switzerland, Sophie started her artistic and athletic journey by doing gymnastic as a child before falling in love with ballet at the age of 12. It only took her a couple of year to realise that all she really wanted to be is a ballerina. Despite multiple challenges, Sophie never gave up and danced in her pointe shoes for 15 years with 5 of them as a professional for the Junior Besso Ballet in France. During this time, she also taught ballet to the younger generation and Pilates to the older one.

Then destiny took her to London. That’s where she discovered pole dancing which took her in a completely different journey, one of being empowered by this amazing community and embracing her individuality. Pole made her realise that she could move differently and perhaps more freely than ballet ever allowed her to before.

Like many of us, 2020 kicked her ass and lit the flame again for teaching and performing, bringing new dimensions to her artistic and athletic journey... Circus! This came with an unexpected crush for aerial, especially dance trapeze, as well as contortion.
