Shannon Mairead

Shannon Mairead trained as a professional Great British Gymnast, from the age of ten, winning gold and silver medals in the United States. She started dancing at the age of fourteen to improve her abilities and fell in love with ballet; here is where her dance career started. She received her dance and teacher training in Manchester and Birmingham at the Elmhurst Ballet School and Centre Pointe Vocational Dance school. Shannon graduated from college in 2019 and enrolled in university to pursue a BA (hons) in contemporary dance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. After completing multiple courses at My Aerial Home, Shannon had a newfound passion in circus arts. She threw herself into the circus world in 2022 with all of her might, and she is now performing dance, aerial, and other circus skills such aerial, fire, stilts, and poi. She performs professionally herself and teaches a wide range of dance styles in and around London and Manchester, with a particular focus on inclusive practice. Shannon participates in the creative community and pursues numerous initiatives and creative work in addition to teaching, performing, and furthering her professional growth. Here at My Aerial Home in 2023, Shannon is putting her skills to use as she follows her dream of teaching circus.
