Static Trapeze Classes
What is Static Trapeze?

Static trapeze originated as a circus art. The performer works with music to create a routine around the ropes and bar using tricks, drops, rolls, holds and linking moves whilst keeping the equipment still. This is a creative process and no two artistes link standard moves in the same way.
The Benefits of Trapeze
Strength – Aerialists have long, lean muscles. Trapeze tones and develops core strength.
Agility – The tricks and moves require control and quick, precise movements.
Flexibility – The body becomes supple as it manoeuvres into interesting and surprising shapes.
Empowering – Learning trapeze develops confidence and self reliance and something really interesting to talk about at parties.
Structure of the class
Warm up – ground based warm-up to get the body moving.
Learning section – working as a group to learn basic tricks and moves.
Conditioning – strength and toning exercises.
Cool down – ground based stretching exercises to minimize aching muscles.
Scared of heights?
Initially the trapezes are rigged very low. No one need work higher than they feel comfortable and until they have reached a competent and safe standard.
Who is suitable?
Classes are aimed at men and women aged 16+ and there is no upper age limit. However if you are new to exercise they will be extremely challenging.
What to wear
Exercise clothing that covers the legs with bare feet, socks, ballet shoes or jazz boots.

Corde Lisse (Rope) & Silk Classes
Learn the taut dynamic thrill that is ROPE with Clare Midgley.
Corde Lisse (rope) where the performer uses a single hanging rope to create their routine. The moves, twists, drops and wraps create an ever intriguing challenge to the practitioner.
A fantastic, creative discipline and a great next step skill.
Working on Ropes allows the practitioner to move on to Silks, a doubled over strand of material that creates new creative drop and roll opportunities.
Who is suitable?
Ideally someone who has approximately a year of Static Trapeze, but if you have a good level of fitness, a head for heights, rope climbing ability and resilience then you might be suitable for the class but only after an initial assessment by Amanda or Clare.
Classes are aimed at men and women aged 16+ although younger student may be allowed but again after an initial assessment by Amanda or Clare.
Structure of the class
Warm up – You will be required to warm yourself up before the class.
Learning section – a comprehensive explanation of the art form and time to practice and review.
Cool down – It will be advisable to finish the class with your own ground based stretching exercises to minimize aching muscles.
